We went for an RSP excursion.. our first ever (:

Firstly, we visited a burmese temple...

the architecture was marvellous... all the details were intricately carved.

the statue of the Buddha was made of gold...

this statue of another Buddha was also carved out of gold.

this is a wall painting depicting the construction of the temple.

this was another amazing structure.

then, we went to the Golden Mile Complex.
It was where all the Thai gathered.

this was a place for the Thai to pray and offer incense.

money could be donated to charity.

in the complex, there were services such as money transfer, departmental stores, etc.

here's a picture of a Thai departmental store.

Thai newspapers were also sold to update the Thai on current affairs in their homeland.

Yasira, Joelle, Evan and me outside the Thai supermarket.

After which, we went to Peninsular Plaza, where the Burmese gathered.
There were many shops catering to the Burmese' needs.

Here's a shop selling Burmese batik.

the batik can be made into umbrellas too.

there are clothes, curtains, bedsheets and many other items made out of the batik.

here are some pairs of Burmese slippers.

these are a type of  bitter nut specially used to make a Burmese snack.

this is the bitter leave, which is eaten together with the bitter nut.

here's the method of preparing the snack:
first, put a few pieces of chopped up bitter nuts and place them on a piece of bitter leaf.

then, apply this paste onto the bitter leave, and some other spices to give it some taste.

after having put all the materials together, wrap it up into a squarish package.

Evan was trying how the Burmese snack tasted like.
After she chewed, there was a bitter taste and she had to spit it out.

Then, we went to a Burmese antique shop.
there were many anitiques made of glass, wood, paper, paints, etc.

here are some antique cups.

here are some Buddhist sculptures and a painting.

here are some Burmese jewellery.

here are some Burmese paper craft.

Next, we went to Lucky Plaza, a place where Filipinos met up.

like the Golden Mile plaza, there were also facilities like money transfer.

money could be sent to other places out of Singapore, like their hometown.

there was a shop selling prepaid cards for the Filipinos to call home, or communicate with their friends.

there was also a mini mart to provide the Filipinos with snacks, drinks and other daily necessities.
mini marts and supermarkets could be found all over Lucky Plaza.

there were also Filipino restaurants selling Filipino cuisine, and travel agencies.

Thus, our journey ended here.
